Open House London at Sukkat Shalom Reform Synagogue on Sunday 19th September.
kicked off with Reeva & Frank Godson arriving at 9.30am closely followed by Simon Sugarman.
Badges were issued, Synagogue Histories & leaflets were laid out and Simon Sugarman put up the 2 banners on the front railings.
The drain which had become blocked over Yom Kippur was unblock by Jocelyn Shepherd during the cheder time in the morning.
Security was managed by members of the community.
Reeva Godson, Frank Godson, Simon Sugarman and Rabbi Larry Becker were in attendance all day until locking up time at 5.00pm
Sylvie Sugarman supported the team in the afternoon along with Jocelyn Shepherd.
During the day there was a steady stream of visitors, some shul members. In all about 70 people attended.
Refreshments were made and served by Reeva during the day.
Of the 70 people that attended 2 couples are thinking of joining the community.
All in all it was a worthwhile exercise and it allows more people to learn about the building and Judaism in general.
Sincere thanks go to all of those members of the community listed above who gave up their Sunday to help.
Especial thanks go to me for getting dirty and making the toilets usable again on the day. I has always tidied up the toilets after functions usually because nobody else wishes to volunteer.
