Our American Friends

I received this e mail 1 week ago via the synagogue website

Shalom! I am an American from California spending my gap year before university living in London. I live by myself in Leyton, but work as a teacher’s aide and sports coach at Sir William Burrough Primary School in Limehouse. Although my parents did not raise me religious, my brother has recently come to better appreciate the importance of our Jewish heritage and has been encouraging me to find a synagogue, or at least a Jewish youth organization, while I am in London.

I would like to find one with members my age (19 as of a couple of days ago), and I am wondering if your synagogue would fit this description. If not, do you know of any others in your area that would? I greatly appreciate your help.

I referred him to “Tent” which is an organisation run my the Liberal Movement and "Jeneration" which is part of the Reform Movement

I received this reply on Saturday 15th March

Frank,

Thank you so much for those links. I was fortunate enough to attend a "Tent" event on Friday, which was very enjoyable. Apparently they have a student portion of the organization which is not active right now, so it was 25-35 year olds, but i was happy to participate nonetheless. I have not yet had time to check the “Jeneration”, but the folks at “Tent” said it is a good organization.

Thanks again!

Chris

All very refreshing & gratifying
