19 year old Rebecca Cohen won Loughton Forest for the Conservatives in the recent May elections. Rebecca became the youngest person ever to win a seat on Epping Forest District Council.

In a recent statement she said that "she is ecstatic ....she didn't expect to be elected because she is so young."

Rebecca whose family have belonged to SSRS for many years was Bat Mitzvah in the synagogue and was for a number of years an Assistant Teacher at the Cheder. She now works as a barrister’s clerk.

She decided to stand as a Councillor in order to prevent the BNP candidate from winning the seat.

The synagogue Council offer her their congratulations on a wonderful achievement.
