Talk at the Shul

Jocelyn Shepherd - Council Chair of House

On Sunday 21st February Jocelyn Shepherd gave a talk to the Leyton and Leytonstone Historical Society on the History of the Wanstead site. The talk was put together with slides by Frank Godson who was due to give the talk but who eventually went on holiday on the agreed date. So many thanks to Jocelyn for standing in at the last minute. The group were very appreciative and the followinge mail was received after the event.

Dear Jocelyn -

This is a belated note of thanks from the Leyton and Leytonstone Historical Society for our excellent visit to the Synagogue last Sunday. I was some time ago that I thought of this visit, after the
Synagogue had been hosts during the Woodford Festival in in 2008.
I remembered the beautiful stained glass and the wood screens and was glad to
see them again. Everyone enjoyed your talk of the history of the Synagogue
and I particularly was interested in the difference between a reform
synagogue and a 'usual' one, especially the participation of women. We
enjoyed the tea a cakes as well, particularly as it was yet another cold
day.

Once again, thanks from the L&LHS.

Maureen Measure.
