Visit to Sinclair House Sunday 18th April for Yom Ha’atzmaut.
The students and staff of Sukkat Shalom arrived at Sinclair House at 9:30am for a day of celebration in honour of Israel’s 62nd birthday Yom Ha’atzmaut.
The staff at Sinclair House were very welcoming and had arranged a wide variety of different activities for everyone to do. These included singing and dancing, sport activities, arts and crafts and the Joking Rabbi with our very own Rabbi Larry. Each person selected to do two activities which were split into two sessions during the morning with refreshments available in between.
Senior members of JLGB were there to do the sport activities which many of the students from Sukkat Shalom and other synagogues were very enthusiastic about doing. Many of our younger students enjoyed the arts and crafts activities which involved making comic books and joke books. They said they loved doing all the cutting, sticking and colouring and didn’t want it to end.
Many of our older students and Madrichim participated in the singing and dancing activities which were led by an Israeli dancing troupe and Israeli choir. We were taught a short routine made up of hip hop dance which we enjoyed learning and performed at the end of the session. In the singing activity, the choir taught us an Israeli song where we were all singing out hearts out, clapping, dancing and generally just having an amazing time.
At the end of the two sessions, everyone gathered together to sing Israel’s national anthem to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut . We then thanked our hosts at Sinclair House for a wonderful day.
