Sukkat Shalom Reform Synagogue

On Sunday January 29th after 18 months of hard work studying at the Sternberg Centre Jodie Tiller, Daniel Bhattachya and Bryony Bathe have passed their Foundation Course for Religion School Teachers, and received their certification.

They successfully complete their observed, teaching assessments in the class room and their coursework.

It was a proud moment for their families and for our Synagogue when they were presented with their qualification today at the Sternberg Centre.

On Tuesday evenings we hold Texts Study Classes with Rabbi Larry Becker from 8.00pm in the Cheder Block

Currently we are looking at

“Why are some Torah portions read and not translated and others not read”

Pam Goldsmith, Director of Community Development at the Movement for Reform Judaism, reflects on her role in the establishment of JCoSS, the Jewish Community Secondary School, as it prepares to open its sixth form next year:

I am incredibly proud to have been part of the JCoSS story for almost ten years. Back in 2002 I was asked to join a small team of individuals to consider the financial viability of establishing a cross-communal secondary school. We had no site, no money and no head teacher, but we had enormous amounts of enthusiasm and dedication to the project.

Joint Cheder Venture

Sunday October 17th saw the Synagogue swarming with children from not only our Cheder but quite a number from Bet Tikvah as well. Rabbi Becker was instrumental in bringing the children together for a joint Cheder/ Youth morning.

A youth leader from RSY Netzer (Sammy) came and spent the first half of the morning working with the Madrichim from both Synagogues. We also had a young lady from SWESERS joining the group.

The synagogue holds Access to Judaism Classes at our synagogue Synagogue.
