The next meeting of the group will be on Thursday 11th April at 8.30pm in the Cheder Block of the synagogue
Sukkat Shalom has a new group, the Tikkun Olam working group, which has been charged with developing social action activities for the community. The working group has met once so far with further meetings planned. “Tikkun Olam” is a traditional Jewish term and means healing the world. In many Jewish communities, it is now interpreted to mean making the world a better place through pursing social justice and social action.
The group adopted this name because it captures our aspiration of making the world a better place and helping members of the shul to contribute to this effort. The group discussed a number of possible activities we could organise. In the first instance, we thought providing more social activities for older members of the shul was a priority.
We therefore plan to organise some afternoon social events with tea and cakes (and maybe even some entertainment!). These will be open to all, but particularly targeted at older members of our community and the wider Jewish community in Redbridge, Essex, and surrounding areas.
We will endeavour to provide transport so that this is not a barrier to attending.
Please look at out Facebook page and website for details of dates and times.

Many thanks to the Alzheimer's Society for running an awareness session
in the synagogue on Tuesday 24th July 2018.
Peggy Ennis who delivered the session was very engaging and we all
thought the session worth while.
